I Am Grateful For… Technology

Quote: technology brings the world closer together

It’s crazy to think that we used to live in a world of 6 degrees of separation; now it’s only 2 degrees of separation. Distance no longer matters; we can video call or message someone on the other side of the world and have immediate contact, as if they were sitting next to us.

Having moved to Australia from the US 4 years ago, you can imagine I use technology a lot to communicate with family and friends back home.

Last week, my mother (bless her heart, she is terrible with technology) was trying to figure out how to text me from her iPhone. I swear I showed her 47 times how to do it when she came to visit, but of course she doesn’t remember.

Well, I ended up calling her on this amazing program called Tango, which is kind of like Skype without having to login.  She was so cute! She picked up and then flipped out at the fact that she was video calling her daughter in Australia.

I got to thinking, how cool is this? Back in her day this would have seemed like some kind of sci-fi futuristic movie scene, and here we were having a video call in our kitchens, thousands of miles away from each other!

Why I'm grateful for social media

Social media has been another crazy technological miracle that I am super grateful for.

The fact that you can find old friends or long lost family on social platforms is so amazing. I love that I can chat and connect with people from all over the world. I get really excited when I am checking out someone’s blog from a country on the other side of the planet – it’s so cool!

Nowadays, when you have a message to share with the world, it is 100 times easier than the old days of sending messages with birds! Technology continues to make a huge impact with all the life-changing things it can do.

We shop online, read, listen to music, watch TV and movies, run businesses, create events, and even date online!

Facebook and social media: helping us stay connected

It’s funny because at times I find myself telling off my hubby about playing on his phone and not engaging, but it’s more than just checking your news feed and seeing what people are doing.

Technology has changed the way we live and it’s pretty exciting as to what’s possible. Imagine our world 10 years from now!

So I want to say thank you to the amazing people who have changed the way our planet communicates – to all the Steve Jobs of the world, we love you! For technology, I am grateful.

Wednesdays GRATEFUL post

What are you grateful for?

What are you grateful for?

Ok here it is the ‘GRATEFUL’ series…. every Wednesday we are doing a

“What are YOU grateful for?” post

This is so powerful!  We can talk for days on end about the things that aren’t going right, the troubles we face here and there and how crap everything can be, but instead let’s get into the habit of being grateful.

Today I am grateful for… CONNECTION

I have been meeting some pretty amazing women lately and I am so grateful for connection.  Being able to meet someone new and take interest in what they are doing and hearing about their goals and visions on how they want to do their bit to leave their footprints on the sands of time.  I love being able to meet a ‘stranger’ and then all of a sudden you have a new best friend.  I have been meeting so many ‘Soul Sistas‘ I call them, it’s like I knew them in another lifetime (I totally did!) I am grateful that we live in a world of 2 degrees of separation now thanks to social media and you could be tweeting one day and the next minute your having a coffee!  How cool is that!  Connection is what it’s all about and my new goal is to meet and connect to as many people as I can while I am here.
